Hydropneumatic Technology for the 3D Humidifier

Schema der Hydropneumatischen Steuerung inkl. Stopp-Zone

1. Evaporation Surface (panel)

The evaporation surface plays a key role due to its size.
By unfolding the material and distributing it over a large air volume, the performance is significantly increased. The water is directly transformed into gaseous water vapor. This heavier vapor sinks into the room, resulting in a longer retention time and high efficiency.
Katabatic airflow:
This air circulation occurs naturally: when the water evaporates, the now humidified air becomes heavier than the surrounding air and therefore sinks downward. The amount of air circulated per day is amplified in each of the four zones of the device. Just as iron falls faster than wood, the speed of circulation increases with the amount and density of humidified air.
Thanks to this principle, the 3D humidifier is able to raise the humidity of 350 to 475 m³ of air from 28% rH to 52% rH. This is a substantial amount, confirmed by customer experience. The evaporation panel also serves as a storage medium. It absorbs water into its pores during the rinsing process, then releases it and is refilled with fresh water at short intervals!

2. Collection Basin

The collection basin catches the water that drips off when the evaporation panel is fully saturated. A tube inserted into it is sealed by water. This plays a crucial role: it holds back the water from the main tank. It remains in this state until the water in the collection basin has evaporated. Then, air flows in again—and the water flows down. Isn’t that amazing? The basin also houses the lime separator.

3. The tube

The tube does not carry water, as one might assume. It channels air into the water tank. Since it is inserted into the collection basin, it can be sealed off by dripping water. This creates a slight vacuum in the tank, which prevents water from flowing out. We call this the “hydropneumatic control” or the “stop-and-go function.”

4. Stopper

The stopper is the heart of the humidifier. It seals the water tank and also determines the fill level in the upper basin. Additionally, it regulates the water flow via the hose connection from the collection basin to the water tank. Air from the collection basin is directed into the tank through the valve. Using a siphon system, it controls the water level in the capillary basin – a particularly important task. The valve remains closed only thanks to the presence of water and can thus generate the necessary vacuum for the filling intervals. Without water, it stays open to prevent germ formation and to allow easy cleaning.

5. Water-Tank

The water tank holds 3 liters of water. This volume is defined to ensure that germ formation in the stored water remains negligible. The tank should be cleaned approximately every 2–3 months, and of course whenever the evaporation panel is replaced. See: “The Secret of the Water Tank” / video.

6. capillary tray

The upper tray is called the capillary tray. It distributes water evenly across the entire width of the evaporation panel. Especially through the two ridged spouts, water is actively pumped onto the panel (see capillary pump). At the same time, it serves to securely mount the 3D-Humidifier to the wall. As a result, the freshly generated humidity naturally falls downward, creating high impact and performance.

7. Calk-Absorber

Calk-Absorber absorb the dripping water and allow it to evaporate. In doing so, they trap lime that has dripped down from the evaporation panel. Accumulated germs are also captured by the lime separator. Experience shows that users typically replace it 2–3 times per season (5 per pack).

8. Capillary pump

The capillary pump is responsible for letting water flow across the surface of the evaporation panel. This bypasses the fleece as a filter. Any introduced lime is rinsed downward. The grooves in the two spouts on the capillary basin (at the top) are covered by the paper but not sealed, forming a channel that pumps the water onto the panel.

The stop zone 2019

The stop zone guarantees a minimum water level in the capillary basin. This helps maintain the vacuum during the rinsing process — even if the unit is installed in a non-standard way.
